Here at McClean and Co we are privileged to work with Mike Daish. Lindsay and Mike go way back, so when Mike moved back to Queenstown following an extended overseas stint, the two connected.
Mike works with business owners to help them thrive; this is a sentiment we can get behind! He is described as, “An integral leader, who secures an organisation’s place at the forefront of the industry.” He is a visionary, strategic and driven leader.
His approach is simultaneously broad and focused, global and local. Broad in the sense that the businesses he works with are diverse in both size and nature. Most notably Mike worked as Global Managing Director for Dyson, driving significant sales growth during his tenure; he was instrumental in transforming the organisational structure and developing and implementing the global giant’s high-level strategy.
Mike’s latest project is working with successful furniture designer Ed Cruikshank to develop and market Firebrand New Zealand. Firebrand offers a sophisticated suite of fire paraphernalia, elegantly designed to perfection. These beautiful products represent Kiwi ingenuity at its best; Firebrand is one to watch!
Mike believes in getting the right systems to do the job well from the beginning. He says, “Spending time on getting the foundations right allows you to accelerate from there.” He champions the importance of brand stories, having lofty goals, and making a smart plan to reach them. He applies this approach to his roles on Boards, as a mentor and as a business advisor.
Mike works with Lindsay and Thijs here at McClean and Co and Mike describes this relationship as a “partnership”. He says the difference with McClean and Co is their accessibility and their reasonable, uncomplicated approach. He values their guidance beyond compliance and says they made setting up and getting underway simple.
Here at McClean and Co we love working alongside and supporting Mike in his business. Our conversations are dynamic and always interesting. His wealth of knowledge and stunning range of projects make it fun to work with him, and as Mike says, “this is what makes business enjoyable”.
