Alice Robinson professional ski racer portrait

We recently caught up with our client Alice Robinson as she takes some well-deserved down time following her Northern Hemisphere season. She is back in New Zealand after spending nine months in Europe training and competing on the World Cup Ski Racing circuit.

She said, “It was certainly different due to COVID, the masks and constant testing. It was stressful at times but I finished on a high.” Alice is in her rest and recovery phase, spending time in the gym, getting strong and even finding a little time to upskill on Xero.

Alice is a Queenstown local and has taken the ski racing world by storm. She is the most exciting and remarkable talent New Zealand Ski Racing has ever produced with five World Cup podiums to her name, including three wins. She won the last World Cup race for the season in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. She currently jointly holds the world number one ranking for women’s Giant Slalom with Federica Brignone from Italy. She is the first woman to win three FIS World Cup races before the age of 20 since Mateja Svet in 1988. Her results, quite simply are phenomenal.

Alice describes 2020 as a big learning year. She says, “I had to overcome some big obstacles but I am a stronger athlete because of them.”

Alice has been working with Lindsay for three years. She describes the relationship as “awesome”. She says “It is awesome to have Lindsay and the McClean and Co team managing my accounts. It means I don’t have to worry, they are on top of it and it is well organised. They handle my income, which can be complicated because it is in different currencies and is a mix of sponsorships, endorsements and prize money. I appreciate their advice and approach but, best of all, Lindsay is a massive ski fan.”

We are thrilled to support Alice’s career. We are so proud of what she has achieved already and look forward to watching her perform on the world stage, and also playing a part in supporting her success. We follow her races and career closely and we couldn’t be more proud of our Queenstown girl.
