We’re back to almost-regular life here in the Southern Lakes: going to cafes, ski fields, workplaces and libraries, but we are unfortunately missing a large chunk of our usual spring season business. While Auckland remains in lockdown, our tourism and hospitality businesses that rely on the Auckland market are very much financially impacted.
In the last few days the government has announced new rounds of financial support for businesses across the whole country affected by the higher alert levels in Auckland.
Here’s a quick look at the latest round of funding.
Second round of Resurgence Support Payment (RSP)
The Resurgence Support Payment (RSP) is a payment to help support viable and ongoing businesses or organisations due to a covid-19 alert level increase to level 2 or higher.
To be eligible for the RSP, you will need to show that your business experienced a 30% or more drop in revenue in a 7-day period from 8 September until immediately before all of NZ returns to Alert Level 1 compared to a typical 7-day period in the 6 weeks before 17 August.
The payment will stay as $1,500 plus $400 per full-time equivalent (FTE) employee up to a maximum of 50 FTEs, or four times the actual revenue decline experienced by the applicant, whichever is less.
Applications will open for the second payment at 8am next Friday, 17 September and you can apply even if you received the first payment.
Applications for both RSP payments will remain open until 1 month after the whole of Aotearoa New Zealand returns to Alert Level 1.
Second & Third round of Wage Subsidy
This is for all businesses and self-employed people who have or predict at least a 40% decline in their revenue and meet all the eligibility criteria. There are two rounds of funding at this time:
- Round two is open for two weeks between 9am 3 September 2021 and 11.59pm Thursday 16 September 2021
- Round three is open from 9am Friday 17 September with the revenue test for this payment based on the period 14-27 September.
